4. Who we share it with

We share personal information only where it is needed to run the store:

  • Shopify, which hosts our website and checkout and stores order data on our behalf. See Shopify's privacy information at shopify.com/legal/privacy.
  • Payment providers, such as Stripe and Shopify Payments, which process your payment and carry out fraud checks. They act as independent controllers for some of this processing and have their own privacy policies.
  • Digital delivery and email providers, which send your download link and order emails.
  • Analytics and advertising providers, only where you have consented to the relevant cookies.
  • Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers, where necessary.
  • Authorities such as tax authorities, regulators, courts or the police, where the law requires it.
  • A buyer or successor of our business, if the business is sold or reorganised.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. International transfers

Some of our service providers are located, or store data, outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, including in the United States and Canada. Where personal information is transferred, we rely on a legally recognised safeguard, such as an adequacy decision or approved standard contractual clauses. You can ask us for more information about the safeguards used.

6. How long we keep it

  • Order and payment records: for 6 years after the end of the financial year in which you ordered, to meet tax and accounting rules.
  • Support messages: for up to 2 years after your enquiry is closed.
  • Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe, after which we keep a minimal record so that we do not contact you again.
  • Technical and cookie data: for the period set by each cookie, generally no longer than 13 months.

We delete or anonymise information when it is no longer needed.

7. Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies.

  • Essential cookies make the website and checkout work — for example keeping items in your basket and keeping the checkout secure. These are always on.
  • Analytics and marketing cookies help us understand how the site is used and, where relevant, measure advertising. Where the law requires it, these are set only if you agree through our cookie banner.

You can change your choice at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop the checkout from working.

8. Marketing

We send marketing emails only if you have opted in. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop by emailing help@ribeaestore.com. Order and service emails are not marketing and are sent regardless.

9. Security

We use reputable providers and take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the website and checkout and restricted access to order data. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate;
  • ask us to delete your information, where we have no legal reason to keep it;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your information;
  • object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time;
  • receive your information in a portable format, where this applies; and
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To use any of these rights, email help@ribeaestore.com. We may need to confirm your identity. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.

11. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so that we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. If you live in the European Union, you may complain to the data protection authority in your country.

12. Children

Our website and products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make significant changes we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
